Amazing 3D Street Art http://www.megabunny.com/amazing-3d-street-art/ http://www.megabunny.com/amazing-3d-street-art/#comments Tue, 04 Sep 2007 17:33:21 +0000 admin http://www.megabunny.com/amazing-3d-street-art/ Julian Beever is an English chalk artist who has been creating chalk drawings on pavement since the mid-1990s that create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the right location. These trompe-l’œil drawings are created using a projection called anamorphosis and appear to defy the laws of perspective.

Besides the 3D art, Beever paints murals and replicas of the works of masters and oil paintings, and creates collages. He is often hired as a performance artist and to create murals for companies. Beever is interested in advertising and marketing, as well. He has worked in the UK, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Spain, the USA and Australia.

Here is some of his amazing work:

Massive Fallout Shelter in Switzerland http://www.megabunny.com/massive-fallout-shelter-in-switzerland/ http://www.megabunny.com/massive-fallout-shelter-in-switzerland/#comments Wed, 29 Aug 2007 21:57:19 +0000 admin http://www.megabunny.com/massive-fallout-shelter-in-switzerland/ Based on a federal law from 1963, Switzerland aims to provide nuclear fallout shelters for the entire population of the country. Construction on the Sonnenberg Tunnel started in 1971 and took six years to complete. Designed to protect 20,000 people, it is the largest civilian fallout shelter in the world. The blast doors at the tunnel portals are 1.5 metres thick and weigh 350 tonnes.

Pictures were taken by Lewis Bush and originally featured by the BBC.

All people seeking shelter must first be decontaminated. Radioactive particles can be washed off with cold water.

This is the backup sanitation system. If the toilet system broke down, air-tight buckets would be filled with human waste.

Two main corridors connect every room in the bunker.

_44005335_06.jpg

Washing devices are very elementary. Showers are reserved for decontamination.

These bicycles are to be used by military personnel to scout the surface.

Each civilian dormitory is designed to hold 200 people, but could potentially hold twice that.

Military personnel are given slightly better accomodations.

Cool Watermelon Art http://www.megabunny.com/cool-watermelon-art/ http://www.megabunny.com/cool-watermelon-art/#comments Wed, 22 Aug 2007 18:00:16 +0000 admin http://www.megabunny.com/cool-watermelon-art/ Watermelon is my favorite fruit. Normally I would say this is a waste of food, but this art is amazing! Watermelon is an excellent fruit to use because not only is it firm enough not to fall apart (such as a peach) but also because of the different shades possible. Not only the red and the green but I’m sure that you know that under the dark green surface layer there are progressively lighter shades of green. This allows for dimension.watermelon_art_014.jpg

Japanese Sewer System http://www.megabunny.com/japanese-sewer-system/ http://www.megabunny.com/japanese-sewer-system/#comments Fri, 27 Jul 2007 17:33:45 +0000 admin http://www.megabunny.com/japanese-sewer-system/ Japan is a heavily-urbanized country. Over 35 million people live in the Greater Tokyo Area, making it the most populous metropolitan area in the world. As one can imagine, this huge concentration of people requires a massive amount of infrastructure. One of these wonders is the Japanese sewer system. It looks like something out of The Matrix: japanesesewers2.jpgjapanesesewers3.jpgjapanesesewers4.jpgjapanesesewers7.jpgjapanesesewers8.jpgjapanesesewers10.jpgjapanesesewers11.jpg171.jpg

Sand Sculptures http://www.megabunny.com/sand-sculptures/ http://www.megabunny.com/sand-sculptures/#comments Mon, 16 Jul 2007 22:20:23 +0000 admin http://www.megabunny.com/sand-sculptures/ Ever try building sand castles like the ones you see contests (and on this page)? I have and my creation crumbled whenever I tried to add any detail.

The most important element in sand sculptures is not the actual sand but the water. It is best to add sand to water in the very beginning so that it is spread out properly.

And unfortunately, some sand just isn’t good sculpture material. As sand rolls back and forth with the tide for centuries, it gets rounded. “Surf rolled” sand will not be able to produce the sculptures you see below.

The best sand is at the mouth of rivers, where fine silt grains deposit.
